I enjoyed working with Alex tonight while we prepared her for the costume ball.....a beautiful fairy READY for the ball.... hair and makeup by me!

I love this little segment so I just may keep it going! Do you have a favorite product that your wondering about? Let me know, maybe I can try test it and tell you how and when to use it!

I love using these loose pigments to get a dreamy look! They come in all brands and again I STRESS, use a good eye lid primer, and you will not have any problems with what ever brand you choose. You can use mat loose pigments for day, or photography and shimmers for evening and events. I happen to have both shimmer and mat blends, and use them interchangeably. You can see below the bit of shimmer on her lid corner. In this photo I did use a MAC loose pigment in Tan color.  Its is important, however, to make sure to keep it on the lid of the eye and not on the brow bone, if pictures are going to be taken. It will give to much "kick back" into the camera if taken up too high on the brow bone. Little TIP! If you just lightly dampen your brush it will stick better onto your brush and get a better cleaner effect on your lid. I love doing it that way! Tip: spread it like butter onto the eye lid, then take a bit lighter pigment -like a vanilla and place that right in the center of the lid for a light effect!

I was so excited to have filled ALL of my homecoming spots in the GLAM studio! The front door bell kept ringing and I was on my toes! I LOVED that the ladies brought their dresses with them so I was able to create a look that went with each dress. My goal is not to match the dress, but to compliment the dress with coordinating colors! I had a blast using vanilla, champane and smoky grey colored loose pigments with shimmer, highlighted with  matte blends of charcoals, suedes, and plums. I used a dewy pink for the cheeks and followed up with glittery colored glosses. It was so much fun!

What kind of Makeup do you like best? What do you use?

I love all makeup. I think that you can find treasures everywhere! I think if you have a great base then anything will work. The key really is getting the makeup to "stick" or stay on. Then you can use anything really. Start with putting money into a great base. A good primer foundation or Primer for the eyes and you can make it all work!
But to get into the knitty gritty- my favorites are MAC, Artistry and a new one called Urban Decay. Let me spill a little on the photo below....

Foundation: Airbrush foundation....ALA Joy
Urban Decay Primer Potion  for eyes
Maybelline: quad in Stylish Smokes
Urban Decay Cream Liner in Empire
Mac: Black Track fluidline and Mac Kohl eye crayon
Elizabeth Arden mix of 2 cheekcolors: sunblush and pink mauve
Femme Couture Lightning lash Mascara in black brown
Avon: Ultra Color Rich lipstick in Frozen Berry (love this Angel-thanks!)

So I got Tiffany Rice, a wonderful photographer that i know, to shoot a few photos of me a couple weeks ago. She is a very cool and excellent photographer from the Midwest. She was on a little visit here to good 'ole VA! Our photo shoot was about 15 minutes long....thats about as much time as we could muster in between her shooting the Virginia International Pageant! But Tiffany got the fun shots I was hoping for to use for my web site! Here are a few of the fun graphics I have created with her wizardry photography!!

Shadow Primer Potion

Love it love it love it...I am happy I tried this little gem. I almost passed on it, but I am happy now I bought it!. Here is what they say....

This miracle eyeshadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets.

The formula is full of silicone, which you beauty mavens know makes for a smooth and silky application. Packaged in a pretty genie bottle, our Potion applies with a magic wand and flocked applicator.

Tips: A little goes a long way! Apply a thin coat and let dry, then apply Eyeshadow as you normally would. Then DARE it to crease. (Double-dog dare it, even!)

From Thursday to Saturday night the FUN just kept coming! I should just back up a bit. On Wednesday night I received a very distressed email that almost made me cry on the spot. A beautiful bride getting married in 3 days (that's this past Saturday) emailed me with a troubling emergency about her wonderful MOB (mother) ((of the bride)) Her mother, in a frenzy house cleaning effort (since the family was arriving by plane very soon-you know how that is) was taking out the trash when she fell, hitting her face on the fender of a nearby parked motorcycle in the garage. Her face was bruised and swollen and... of course her heart was broken about the fact her family, friends and all her preparations to be the most wonderful mother in the world to her daughter, were smashed in fall along with her face. The bride, in a last minute effort to find something MAGIC to help her mothers appearance and make her happy again, emailed me at midnight on Wednesday... SINCE I am now writing an article for Richmond Weddings magazine about this tragic event, and cant share more right this second, but needless to say....she found a FBJ Fairy Godmother.....-Share more soon!

To move on the other great part of my weekend....Makeup and hair for beautiful Bride Tracy......who had a stunning outdoor ceremony Friday evening! On Saturday a trip to Ashland Berry farm and costume shopping kept the fun afloat. Thus Saturday night, exhusted and happy, I put my feet up to watch a little movie with a bit of popcorn!

I wonder if it would surprise you if I admitted that i WAS NOT that into shoes! However I am jealous of those that are "into"shoes! I love my purses, but i always secretly wish that i had more shoes and that i enjoyed shopping for them as some of my friends do! Each year as I break into my winter wardrobe, I pull out the same two pairs of boots, one black and one brown, from 4 years ago. They get paired with just about everything. Well, this year i may have found a wonderful solution and I thought I would just pass it on to those of you who are closet Shoe admirers like me! Its called Shoe Dazzle www.shoedazzle.com/invite/2shjksg0h

Here is how it works and I am gonna try it!
